It's been said that dog is man's best friend, but in this case, the dog is a woman's best friend. When she was just 18 years old,  Amanda Tromp found herself in an abusive relationship with a boyfriend, according to KIRO 7.
"He'd come home from work stressed or upset, and I ended up starting to turn into the punching bag," Tromp told KIRO 7.

Tromp told reporters that she stayed and never told her family about the abuse because she felt trapped.

"You get beaten down and ... you feel stuck and trapped. And I don't think anybody that hasn't been in the situation would know how that feels," Tromp told KIRO 7.

Then she adopted Kyro. The Siberian Husky came from a litter of 10 puppies born to a dog that had been abandoned by her owner, according to her post on BuzzFeed.

Tromp said Kyro became her only source of joy, and when her boyfriend hit Kyro, she knew it was time to leave. "It's not okay to hit me, but especially not okay to hit him, and that's when everything kind of changed and turned around."

She left and never went back.

"Now I wake up with the thought of, 'What am I going to do today, and where am I going to go.' And I'm excited," Tromp told KIRO.

The popular Instagram account, "Goldilocks and the Wolf," features photos of Tromp and Kyro exploring nature in different seasons.

After she gained the courage to leave her abusive relationship, she developed an interest in photography and began shooting photos of her and Kyro on different adventures. The name Goldilocks and the Wolf came from her mother, who, Tromp says, was inspired by her long blond hair and Kyro's coloring, according to BuzzFeed. Her Instagram account now has 155,000 followers.
